The New Riders seem to be making a resurgence of late.

I should mention that there ain't no Marmaduke. Last I heard, he was in pretty poor health, but had given David Nelson his blessing to carry on. This show features a guest appearance by Pinetop Perkins. I wonder just how healthy that old guy can be.

Not only making a resurgence, but playing damn well, with some new stuff, too. I miss Marmaduke, but the return of Buddy Cage is most welcome. If you like the Dead, you gotta like the New Riders.

Speaking of NRPS, I was listening to Sirius Radio and heard a SMOKIN' version of Take a Letter Maria, wondering who the hell is this I looked at the tuner and it said NRPS Live 1/20?/06. Ouch! Can't find this show on Archive but clearly this song has become a standard in the new routine.

Better yet, Buddy Cage is DJ'ing on Sirius (channel 17 - Jam) and hell if he didn't replay this same TALM version again!

Catch it if you can.
Last time I saw NRPS was a free concert in Central Park with Commander Cody opening - 1976?

Man! These guys played about 10 city blocks from my house last week. I didn't know about it and missed it. Friends said it was great, however.

Hey folks,

NRPS also played at the (Hot-air) Balloon Festival here in NJ. I was shocked to see their name there. You guys obviously know more about them than I do, but they're around in the strangest of places...

I was surprised when I saw them on the lineup for the 10,000 Lakes Festival. New Riders and Ratdog at the same festival, maybe Bob will sit in with them like he did for that 5/15/70 show.

"Bobby Ace and the Cards off the Bottom." This little Riders-Weir gathering took place several times in 1970 as part of the transition between the Dead's acoustic set and the Riders. Even if you have the DP of Harpur, you are missing those few songs (e.g. "Sawmill). Fun stuff.
